Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Commmun collects, how we use it to operate the platform, and what rights users have over their personal data.

Effective: April 21, 2026
Last updated: April 21, 2026

1. Scope and Controller

Commmun is the controller for personal information collected through the platform. This policy applies to commmun.com, creator tools, event pages, messaging, and related support workflows.

Questions about privacy can be sent to privacy@commmun.com.

2. Data We Collect

We collect information in three main categories:

  • Information you provide. Account details, profile content, event listings, messages, membership tiers, support requests, and payment-related profile information.
  • Activity information. Tickets purchased, memberships joined, events attended, follows, saves, comments, moderation reports, and room participation data.
  • Technical information. IP address, device and browser data, cookie identifiers, crash diagnostics, and service logs used to secure and operate the app.

3. How We Use Data

We use personal information to:

  • Provide authentication, event access, checkout, memberships, and creator payouts.
  • Prevent fraud, abuse, spam, account takeover, and payment risk.
  • Send transactional notices such as receipts, reminders, password resets, and alerts.
  • Investigate reports and enforce our Community Guidelines.
  • Improve reliability, support operations, and product quality.

We do not sell personal information to data brokers or ad networks.

4. Sharing and Processors

We share data only when required to operate the service, comply with law, or protect users and the platform.

  • Stripe for checkout, recurring billing, and creator payouts.
  • Supabase for authentication, database infrastructure, and storage.
  • Commmun Live, powered by LiveKit, for live room access and media delivery.
  • Resend for transactional email delivery.
  • Sentry for application monitoring and error diagnostics.

Event hosts may receive limited attendee information necessary to operate the purchased event or membership, such as a buyer name or email address for access support.

5. Cookies and Session Technology

Commmun uses authentication and session technologies that are necessary to keep users signed in, prevent abuse, maintain preferences, and protect form submissions.

  • Authentication cookies and tokens for account access.
  • Short-lived security and anti-abuse signals.
  • Preference storage such as timezone or interface state.

We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site behavioral ad trackers on the public product.

6. Retention and Deletion

We keep data only for as long as it is needed to operate the platform, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, or prevent abuse.

  • Account and profile data is retained while the account remains active.
  • Financial and payout records may be kept for tax, accounting, and audit purposes.
  • Support and moderation records may be retained to prevent repeated abuse.
  • System backups may preserve deleted data for a limited restoration period.

7. International Transfers

Commmun is operated from the United States and may use service providers that process information in the United States or other countries. Where required, we rely on contractual or other lawful transfer mechanisms.

8. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, or restrict the use of your personal information, or to object to certain processing.

California residents may also request information about categories of personal information collected, disclosed, or shared, and may request deletion subject to exceptions. We do not sell personal information.

Submit requests to privacy@commmun.com.

9. Children's Privacy

Commmun is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Paid creator tools and payout features are intended for adults.

10. Security

We use a combination of infrastructure controls, access restrictions, and monitoring to protect user data. No service can guarantee absolute security, so users should also use a strong password, protect their email account, and contact us promptly if they suspect compromise.

11. Contact and Updates

If we make material changes to this policy, we may notify users through the product or by email. Continued use of Commmun after an updated policy takes effect means the revised policy applies going forward.

Contact privacy@commmun.com for privacy questions or requests.
